| Kate was just starting to get her life back together after the death of her husband Johnny when Sara, Kate’s four year-old, starts having awful nightmares. The next thing Kate’s knows, both her daughter and herself are in grave danger. Kate just doesn’t know from whom.
Sara insists that her daddy still talks to her and Kate’s worried that there may be something wrong with Sara. Then even stranger things start happening. Kate is asked to work late at the last minute and when she gets home Sara asks her not to go out again before Kate could even tell her she had to work. When Kate asks Sara why she didn’t want her to go out, Sara tells her she’s afraid the dark will get her. Kate goes anyway and starts to get dizzy, she gets this feeling that something is wrong and knows she has to get home to Sara. The feeling grows stronger until Kate runs out of the building. Once outside, Kate is run down by a hit and run driver. Left unconscious, Kate is rushed to the hospital. While unconscious, Kate, has an out of body experience and sees Johnny, her dead husband. Johnny tells her it’s not her time and she had to go back. Sara still needed her and that they are special and have powers she didn’t know about. Dr. Ray Benson treats Kate for her injuries, but Ray knows something about Kate and her daughter, something that will change their lives forever. Ray belonged to a group of people who like Kate have abilities of the supernatural kind and he knew Kate was in danger. Ray had to take her to the one man he knew could help, he just hoped they could save Kate, but first Ray had to get her to believe him. Father Mike Emeris knows who Kate is. His dead wife had told him to watch for her, she had a very important destiny to fulfill. Father Mike had to make Kate believe that there was a force outside our world and it wanted to take over. Kate is the key and Father Mike has to protect her at all cost. This is a very powerful story. Margaret L. Carter has opened up new territory in this story and I find it very well written. Kate has no idea that Sara is telling her the truth about her daddy talking to her. She doesn’t believe in the supernatural, let alone talking to the dead. Kate is in for the surprise of her life as the world she knows turns completely inside out and up side down. Is there such thing as a Fifth Dimension? You will fall in love with Kate, a woman of strong will and strength even she doesn’t know about yet. Will Kate defeat the supernatural and save her child? Will Ray be able to open Kate’s heart to the possibility of love again? Or will the dark night steal everything Kate’s holds dear? I recommend this book highly and hope that Ms. Carter continues this story. I feel like there is more to tell and can’t wait to see what happens next. Free up some time because once you start reading From the Dark Places, you can’t put it down. Enjoy!
