Eleven years ago Serena Macafee was brutally stabbed, her twin sister raped and murdered. To cope with the memories she's buried herself in her work as a photographer. Kevin Riley is an extraordinary artist who works with metal. On a photo shoot for a book about the artist he threatens to break down the barriers she puts around herself to protect her heart. But a stalker is after Serena, one she suspects is the same man who killed her sister. Kevin seems to be the only one she can turn to.

Tracy Wolff has penned a multi faceted tale of suspense and romance. Both Kevin and Serena are well done as wanna be lovers afraid to get involved because of the possible disaster to them personally if it ends. Serena's story is one that none of us would ever want to live through in real life. She was locked in a closet while her twin sister was brutally raped and murdered. Then the villain turned on her. Yet he got off with a minor prison sentence and has been paroled early. She has little faith in the system and even less ability to believe men are trustworthy. Kevin has his work cut out for him if he really wants to win her heart.

Ms. Wolff burns up the pages with a romance that is hotter and more erotic than the bayou setting or the blowtorches Kevin uses for his work. In counter point is the workings of a stalker so egotistical and maniacal it's a surprise he has any self control. As his mental state deteriorates the lovers have time to grow close enough to work together. They'll need both of their combined wits to beat this nasty villain. This is a well done book with all the ingredients that make it a great read.
