| Debbie and Noel Carpenter were friends and lovers back in the days of Vietnam. When Noel was drafted little did he know that Debbie was carrying his child. Over 30 years later, unable to truly move on from his first and true love, Noel finds Debbie in Fernandina Beach, FL. Their love is rekindled and together they decide to embark on life together. It was such a quick decision and Noel wanted to give Debbie a honeymoon they would not forget… and boy did he ever succeed!
A clothing-optional cruise may be a good thing for young people but Debbie is not amused that for an entire cruise she will have to avoid "staring" at the naturists on board. Debbie is trapped on a boat in a very uncomfortable situation and now has to confront her alcoholism and dependency head on. Although sober for over 6 years, she still has not succeeded in defeating her demons and does not want Noel to really understand the depth of her addiction. When she decides the best way to avoid the temptation is to get a job helping out in the kitchen on the cruise ship, life changes for Noel and for Debbie. Noel does not understand why she wants to work and has a hard time supporting her. Soon thereafter, Debbie gets attacked in the kitchen and thus starts a mystery that could kill Debbie, and several other people on the cruise! The mystery and action made for a very entertaining read, and the Debbie's internal battle with her addictions made it poignant and heartfelt. A great book that should not be missed!
