| Aliana Maddock gets the surprise of her young life when she finds out her father is a criminal. She can't help but wonder about her mother's suicide and whether she died to escape his clutches. Running for her life, Aliana somehow manages to cross a gate protecting a community called Paradise which is a haven to shape shifters. Griffin Bedard and Dracen Giacomo believe she's their mate and will go to any lengths to protect her.
Tianna Xander weaves a tale with the kind of excellent primary characters I¡ve come to expect from her. Aliana is weakened both physically and mentally by the shocks in her life. The men show some great restraint in being able to nurture her back to health while coping with their raging lust. What a contrast they are to her father's henchmen who think sex is their right if they manage to capture her. The thoughts and memories of the players as well as the action scenes build in such a way that the pages just fly by as the plot plays out. Aliana's memories of her mother come into play to help prepare the way for her introduction and acceptance of the shape shifting nature of the two men. There are always some surprises in Ms. Xander's tales and this one is no exception. Surprises, wit, eroticism, great action scenes all combine to make this a great read. The author is an exceptional wordsmith who builds the people in her books into a real relationship whether they start with instant lust or earn their love the hard way.
