| Samantha Ryan is a cop; she works for the Special Investigations Unit of the police department. But Sam doesn't go after the typical type of bad guy. She chases criminals that are a different species all together. Sam lives in a world where vampires and shape changers are a normal part of life. Sam started showing signs of being less than human herself, as abilities that have lain dormant for thirty years start to show themselves. Sam's an orphan and doesn't know what her genetic make up really is. While investigating a series of murders, she finds a connection to her elusive past.
Gabriel Stern is Sam's partner and he knows much more about her than he's willing to tell. Gabriel is a shape changer and he knows Sam isn't quite human. But Gabriel isn't sure just what she may be or how powerful Sam really is. While investigating a serial killer, the trail leads to a military base and secret genetic breeding experiments. Gabriel and Sam discover the link between the victims and a lead into the killer's identity. Gabriel and Samantha will fight creatures that shouldn't exist, as well as their desire for each other. Gabriel denies his feelings for Sam; one partner dead was enough for him, while Sam refuses to commit to anyone without knowing who or what she may be. The trail of dead bodies lead them to the Hopeworth Military Base and Sam hopes to find answers to questions that have eluded her for years. She hopes to learn who Joshua is, a man who haunts her dreams at night. But is he friend or foe? Generation 18 is the sequel to Memory Zero. We find Samantha Ryan is still looking for her own identity, while trying to trap a couple of killers. As the killings escalate, Sam and Gabriel find themselves in a fight for their lives, in more ways than one. Keri Arthur performs magic when she puts words to paper. She creates scenarios that pull you right into her books. I was completely absorbed in this story. The mystery and intrigue will keep you on edge to the very end. Sam's character will have you asking yourself, <what is she really? Gabriel is suffering from misplaced guilt over the death of his last partner, and cuts himself off from any emotional feelings. Yet he feels a bond with Sam that could break the barriers surrounding his heart. Hopeworth Military Base is a den of evil, where perverted genetic experiments create creatures too horrible to describe. Will Sam find what she's looking for? What about Joshua? What is he really after? I'll Be sure to get Generation 18 and follow Samantha in her quest for answers. I give Generation 18 Five Hearts for a superb story you won't want to miss. Enjoy!
