Thalia stood before Prince Albert of the Dijinn waiting to hear the verdict for disobeying her master, Thorne. Her reasons were valid for her disobedience. Thorne was an evil man who wanted nothing less than control of the world and immortality. She tried to warn the Prince and the other genies but no one would listen to her, no one would believe her. No one, not even her betrothed, would defend her. Now she stood in the meadow to hear the verdict – guilty! Prince Albert turned to Throne, her now ex-master, would declare her sentence – “Send her to the stars,” he said. Horrified, she prayed when Throne was given another genie in her place, it wasn’t her younger sister, she was too young to withstand his evil. With a nod Prince Albert turned her into a pink mist, imprisoned her in a lovely pink, gem encrusted bottle and cast it into the stars of space.

How long she had been imprisoned, Thalia didn’t know. She awoke each time the bottle was found, however if the bottle wasn’t opened in 24 hours, it disappeared to be lost again until another found it. This happened several times until at long last she was found by a man she sensed was powerful and in danger. It seemed the room she was in turned upside down and shook, her bottle smashed and broke, she was free – and weak, with only enough power to become invisible when the man, her new master came into his quarters. Her heart leaped, he looked so much like her betrothed. Was it possible he had survived all these years during her imprisonment? No! Looking closer, she knew this man, Rhys, wasn’t him but oh the resemblance. Perhaps he was the descendant of her beloved.

Reeking havoc on the ship he is captain of and almost driving him crazy trying to figure out what is causing the strange occurrences and unexplained attacks from ships that also disappear. People and dogs appearing and disappearing without reason. At last he puts cameras in his quarters where the strangest things seem to be centered. From the camera’s recordings he sees Thalia’s bottle reform and a pink mist appear, to go into the bottle he found floating in space.

Confronting the crew woman Thalia, he is strangely and extremely attracted to her. She cleverly side steps his questions. In the middle of trying to solve these strange problems, he is called to the warring planet Liran by General Vallerii to meet with an informant. He has decided to keep Thalia as close as possible and it was a good thing he did.

Ms. Springs has penned a really clever and new outlook on the old genie in a bottle story, bringing it into the 21st century and further. I found it entertaining with some unique twists and angles. A very erotic read in the later half of the book after the author builds the sexual tension between Thalia and Rhys to a boil. Genie In A Bottle is a wonderful story, well written and composed to keep you wondering how it will end.
