| P. J. James owned a combination book store/tea room named Words to Live By. Her best friend, Skye Hagens, did research of romance historicals for authors who needed correct information when writing their books. When they were decorating the store for Christmas, they were admiring P. J.’s renter. He was so gorgeous but he was gay. They also were reminiscing about their past horrible New Year’s resolutions. They decided to have a party with no one allowed to resolve anything.
Sebastian St. John was a private investigator and a friend of P. J.’s brother. He was in the government protection program. The ones he was to testify against had threatened his entire family. Rome had convinced Bastian to protect his baby sister without letting her know she was in danger. Rome had gotten him a job as a bouncer in a gay bar in town where he could watch P. J. even when she was in her shop. Bastian was in serious jeopardy of being caught in the lie every time he was around P. J. He had never wanted a woman more. Jane Kent has done a great job of developing this plot into an interesting, easy-to-read book. The part about Bastian’s sexuality was comical. Both people were so attracted to each other. Only he knew getting together was possible. She kept the excitement going with this quick read. The situations they faced were believable and imaginative. I recommend this book to those who like sensual romance.
