| In the first novel of the new Ghost Finders series, J.C. Chance, Melody Chambers and Happy Jack Palmer are modern day ghost hunters. They protect the world from a variety of monsters, ghost and fiends. However, their recent assignment, to investigate hauntings in a London Tube Station, is developing into something much more deadly and ominous than anything they've faced before. Unfortunately, matters are complicated further by their mortal enemies, an investigative team from the Crowley Institute, whose investigation into the haunting is much more simple; foil Chance, Chambers and Palmer plans by any means necessary.
I've been a fan of Mr. Green's Nightside series for a number of years and am pleased that there is a new series for me to read. Chance, Melody and Happy are intriguing characters that draw you in from the first. The character employed well developed wit and qualities that demonstrated their flaws while enhancing the balance and union between them. Happy was particularly witty and flawed but not in a distracting way. His flaws contributed to the effectiveness of the team as a whole. The characters complimented each other with their neurotic ways and intriguing experiences. The characters changed and grew as appropriate to their situations in a manner that was perfectly consistent with the story, the pacing and the plot. The plot and dialogue were paced just right. The characters' dialogue emphasized their individual points of view in a way that displayed their unique talents. The characters' talents and personalities blended into a very cohesive manner. Overall, I truly enjoyed learning more about the characters and the alternate London in which they existed. It is a series in which I will continue to follow in the future as I am sure Happy, Chance and Melody will produce adventures which are just as entertaining in the future.
