| Nathan McGraw is killed in a battle in 1757. So, what's he doing in 2005? He seeks answers from the only person who can see him, Sarah Price. She has her own problems, isn't sure why a ghost has come into her life. It's bad enough having an ex who's harassing her, a new bookstore to run and a mother who insists on meddling in her life.
Nancy Henderson builds an excellent romance. She starts with Sarah's fear and builds it into something more as Nathan keeps coming back to the only person he knows in this world. His life seems even more messed up than hers. They join in a desire to help one another but it escalates into a powerful love that will try to move heaven and hell to let them be together. There are great secondary characters along the way in Claudia, Therman Biddleman, Uncle Stan and Monica Andrews. There are also the nasty ones like Sarah’s ex, Art and Briar Stone, a demon. Ms. Henderson’s view of heaven is definitely a little weird but it sure helps build the story! There’s excellent humor throughout the tale. It helps to offset a little the sadness that has been so much a part of both Sarah’s and Nathan’s life. The author does a great bit of writing to build up the suspense as to what the future holds for the couple. But, as in all the best stories, she comes through with a surprise twist at the end to give us the happy ending we crave for these two. It’s a great romantic read from first page to last.
