Harrison meets up again with Lara when he returns to the little town he grew up in. Two years before, he'd taken off to New York, accepting a job on Wall Street, leaving his best girl pal behind. A girl pal who had been so in love and had thought at the time, that he was going to propose. She hasn't ever forgiven him, nor lost the feeling of being "ditched" by her boyfriend. Now he's back, having taken over his father's antiques business and that will only create another wedge between himself and Lara. Old feelings of hurt die truly hard and now he is rubbing salt in the wound by competing with her little store for antiques in the area, while giving her some serious flirting in the bargain.

Looking forward to other contemporary work from this author; this was a great novel. Enjoyed very much Harrison's humor and persistence in his quest for his former best friend. This story had a great small town feel about it, just the curiosity and 'everybody involved in your business' feeling that comes with living in that sort of environment. The fact that Lara is struggling along on a thread, without letting her family know that they have very serious money problems, shows that she needs to be more clear with herself and her feelings, and Harrison is the perfect catalyst.
