Ilara has had a rough life and doesn’t apologize for it. She does what she must to survive, and she’s taught the children she’s befriended to learn how to get by as well. So when she’s almost caught stealing a wallet from a famous gladiator, she’s not to worried… it’s all in a days work. Then she steals from a garden and finds out it’s from the same man… and this time she doesn’t get away.

Kei is looking for something but doesn’t quite know what. He’s no longer got his long time girlfriend; she’s went off and married someone else. When a little spitfire names Ilara tries to steal some of his precious garden, he finally finds what he’s been looking for.

The sex scenes didn’t really go well with the story at all, the emotion seemed a little forced as if they had to be in there to qualify for erotica. I really liked both characters as individuals, but they didn’t seem to belong together. Kei is a strong alpha male that doesn’t take crap off of anyone, including Ilara. Ilara had a rough life and is smart and sophisticated. For her to get recognized like she did when her enemy Uran saw her was pretty surprising, considering that she’s managed to easily evade him in the past. The whole thing didn’t flow very well, the writing was somewhat choppy and tended to jump from scene to scene. From her capture, the investigation into the people running a child trade, and the love story between Kei and Ilara there wasn’t a smooth transition. She put up with way more than I would have imagined her to do given her personality, and he seemed like he fell faster for her than I would have given him credit for. I liked the idea behind the story and what she was trying to do with it; there was a lot of potential and imagination at work.
