Dr. James Hay is known throughout the world for trying to find myths, like the Bunyip (sea monsters) and Yowie (big foot), and making them fit into scientific terms. He and his team have uncovered an artifact that the world has never seen and that the government is not ready to acknowledge. Sensing that the markings on this artifact could solve his lifelong quest, James knows he has to protect this invaluable obelisk and all the information they have gathered. He believes this artifact to be Maori, and as the Maori people have always been spiritual, James feels this may just be the key to their beliefs. To prevent the junk-media from swarming his camp and making his discovery a farce he invites a legitimate journalist, Samantha Louis, to do a story on his finds. But just as she arrives, everything changes. There is a spy in his camp. The military is trying to prevent his studies. His boss at the university not only thinks he is wasting the university's money, but also wants to destroy James personally. And to top it all off the Maori elders have come and performed a ritual that causes the obelisk to break into many pieces.

If that is not enough, a spiritual guide appears that wants James to follow his destiny and find out the true meaning of his work - and possibly the meaning of his life as well.

Dr. Hay, with his team, the reporter and a few friends, find themselves on a journey that could kill them and could also show them a world that they never even thought existed.

A spellbinding and enthralling book. The intermixing of science and mythology made it all that more "real," and took the story to a new level. Sam and James are strong and independent and both have to deal with things they had never experienced before. This is a Highly Recommended read!!
