| Harper McRae retired from being a professional thief a year ago, but is called back into the profession to help her stepbrother, Dennis. During a party that the blackmailer Blackie is having, Harper attempts to retrieve the evidence on her stepbrother. Unbeknownst to Harper, her old flame Chase is also at the party to get back some blackmail materials from Blackie. Encountering each other again after so long is the least of their problems when they are discovered. In order to leave the party alive, they must trust one another on an emotional as well as physical level. Chase wants Harper to understand how much he loves her and give their relationship another chance. Harper is still unsure of Chase's ability to be faithful to her considering how bad he hurt her before. In the midst of danger, both Chase and Harper must come to terms with the past to have a future.
This is an outstanding, sensual story. Harper and Chase are characters that are well developed and the sex scenes are very hot. The action is nonstop and the way in which these two characters begin to see how the past was not really as it seemed is done well. With the threat of losing one another again, Harper and Chase begin to realize how much love is still between them. How Harper and Chase start to heal after going through this life changing event keeps the pages turning. Those looking for a suspenseful, romantic read need look no further than this gripping story by Ms. Wilder.
