| Elgar is a goblin but he has never quite fit in with the rest of his kind. He decides to settle near the human village of Fairbrook where he can have steady business for his metal works. The one thing he never expected to find was his mate. Unfortunately she is human and he can’t image anyway that a relationship between them could work. Isabella has never felt like she fits in at her home either. She is always finding unusual strays, like her one horned pet goat. Her father is determined to marry her off and get rid of her because she is so odd but Isabella wants nothing to do with the men her father presents to her. Could there be a future for Elgar and Isabella?
Goblin’s Bride by Anastasia Rabiyah is a Fairy Tale along the lines of the Brother’s Grimm tales we read as children. What I mean by that is that some of the characters are dark and mean and not everything is rosy and happy. There is violence and bad guys who try to keep Elgar and Isabella apart for their own personal gain not because they care about Elgar or Isabella. This is not a story for your children; this is an adult Fairy Tale! When I started the story I was reminded of the movie Shrek in which the goblin character likes the beautiful human woman who turns out not to be just human. But Ms. Rabiyah has but her own spin on this potential match between a goblin and a human and it is unique. Elgar and Isabella are inexplicably drawn to one another even though this seems like a doomed match from the beginning. If they can just survive the bad guys and their plots to use Isabella for their own gain they might have a chance. The attraction is there but is that enough to base a relationship on? They are culturally and physically very different. Is it even possible for them to mate? If you enjoy Fairly Tales, even the dark ones, like I do then you will like Goblin’s Bride!
