Sergeant Christine Canady of the USAF hates water and flying. She¢s dreading her flight to Saudi Arabia for her next deployment but she sucks it up the best she can. When the plane goes down in the sea she¢s pulled down by the undertow and believes herself lost. Saved by a mermaid named Undine who wants to escape the sea and her evil suitor CC finds herself trading places to become a woman of the wrapped up in the macho world of 1004.

P. C. Cast has woven one of those stories that will hold you from first page to last. So many women will relate to CC¢s desire for magic in her life. What we gets is a mixture of magic and mayhem and a certain vile merman who uses every magical tool at his disposal to try to make CC belong to him.

The characters who make up this excellent tale will warm your heart or make your blood boil depending on their place in the plot. Abbot William at the monastery Sir Andras takes her to is just as evil as Sarpedon the lecherous and evil merman in his own way. Sir Andras is at first enchanting but then turns into a super macho dude who wants to put his woman, CC, in her place. As a twenty-first century woman CC will have none of that but she¢s walking a fine line between survival and freedom. Dylan her merman lover is everything we could ever want in a hero or a lover.

The women who help CC/Undine are precious and fun. They¢ve each got a story to tell and show themselves to be open to more modern ways of thinking if given a chance. The earth goddess Gaie becomes much more of a mother to CC/Undine than her own mother has been lately.

This is one of the best action filled romances I¢ve read in a long time. It will tantalize you, wrap you in the lives of the people, and warm your heart.
