| When Sarah Hartman gets stuck in an elevator with her sexy coworker Ian Shane, she has a hard time containing her anger. He is the office lothario and she is sure he is hitting on her.
Ian barely recognizes Sarah at first with her hair down. Then he realizes who it is and his heart definitely speeds up. He has a big crush on her but because he travels often for work, he has never really had the chance to get to know her. His attempts at casual conversation in the elevator are stopped by her attitude. She thinks he is some kind of playboy. Well, Ian decides to live it up a bit and show her what happens when you believe rumors and innuendo. This was a bit of an unusual romance in that I didn't fully like the heroine. I found her to be kind of judgmental in that she so readily accepted all these rumors without trying to understand Ian for who he really was. While I can't say I found her totally redeemable at the end, I think the ending was believable in that Sarah was finally giving of herself, showing Ian that she wanted to make amends. It left the possibility of a truly happily-ever-after down the road possible and I liked that. For his part, Ian was a really great guy. He had a crush, and though he was supposed to be some kind of office lothario, it was obvious he was more shy around women, certainly not a love 'em and leave 'em. And then there was another element of the story which I thought stuck out disjointedly in terms of the general plot. It was a step too far in the wrong direction. On the whole, Going Down was a fairly average romance read. Sarah is not wholly likable but her imperfections make for a believable, realistic ending.
