Johnny Wilson knew he looked good. He could have any woman he desired. That was the problem: he had no desire. He had never been able to connect on that special level with a woman. His brothers were happily married and he was beginning to think something was wrong with him. He goes with a couple of friends to a gay bar to just enjoy a drink and be with his friends. Feeling uncomfortable he is ready to leave but before he has a chance to go he sees a man that leaves a lasting impression. Eric Mendez, well known for his skill in domination in the world of BDSM also spotted Johnny; but before he could go over to him his golden boy had disappeared. After that night Johnny sees himself in whole new way and just maybe he will be able to connect with that special someone in a way he had never even dreamed.

Golden Boy by Claire Thompson is a passionate story of sexual awakening. Johnny is someone that recognizes that something is just not right. He longs to loved and be loved; he just has not been able to find that special person. He had not even considered that his special someone just may be a man. On top of his coming to terms with his sexuality he also knows he desires some things that some may think strange. Here he must learn to accept himself and discover what makes him happy. Eric is a person that is desired for his reputation as much as his good looks. He is well known in the clubs he travels. He wants what all want, someone that loves him for himself. He finds himself caught up in his own reputation and does not always see what is really important. These two men will have to open their own eyes before they can help others see them. Johnny has the added problems of dealing with a father that is strongly and violently against homosexuality. Johnny has to worry with the fear of losing his family and being accepted by friends. This is a strong story that shows how in any relationship mistakes can be made. It is the love that will see them through the mistakes to a lasting relationship. The story is very passionate and describes in graphic detail the introduction of a sub into the world of BDSM. I found the story interesting and it goes to show that in the world there is someone for everyone. What one person may find strange another may find erotically stimulating. It is the same with this story: some may not see themselves enjoying reading about the world of BDSM but the main points of the story are love and acceptance. Read this story with an open mind and it is seen as a wonderful experience in self discovery and love.
