| Celia Ross and Salvador Perez are thrown together by the wills of their families. He's told he needs to protect her at all costs from the Evil Genius and his henchman. She's got a mind of her own. The covert actions of the men in her life who won't answer her questions aggravates her to the point that she strikes out on her own no matter what the consequences.
Cara Lyle follows her first two books in this series with another tale of love and intrigue. The forced association of Celia and Salvador seems destined to fail. He's not yet over the woman who betrayed him. She's been sneaking around behind her father's back to see Valery Berenkov, a henchman of the evil villain who thinks he can control the world. The protector and Celia are drawn together and then split in anger when he refuses to see her as anything other than a childish woman. The men in Salvador's family all seem to prefer to take the caveman persona to heart with their women. It takes a lot to teach them that women other than the grandmother they fear for her strength have a mind as well as a body. Salvador himself can't seem to decide whether he wants to be Celia's lover or her guardian. This book is well written with excellent dialogue and characters. There are subtleties that are much better understood if you've read Hearts on Hold and Spanish Sonata the first two of the series. The whole subterfuge tracking EG and Kalin would make more sense if you had more knowledge of their evil than what we get here. The whole 'me Tarzan, you Jane' routine makes more sense if you are willing to keep in mind the whole French and Spanish aristocracy thing through the ages. Luckily, this author shows us that even these macho guys can be brought into the twenty first century by the woman they love.
