| It is Halloween in Las Vegas and Scarlet and her friends are attending a party at the Crypt, a local hangout for the supernatural. As witches they fit in just fine. Scarlet needs a break from worrying about her partner at the gym’s shady financial doings, but she also wants to avoid Grant. The local werewolf alpha has her picked out as his mate and she is not ready to get involved with another overly possessive male. Her ex husband cured her of that.
Scarlet is a take-charge sort of woman who resents a controlling male. Grant is possessive and jealous, but has to prove that he is not the controlling man she thinks she is. Tom, Scarlet’s business partner, is being blackmailed about his use of steroids while playing pro football, and tries to distract Scarlet, but the distraction goes horribly wrong. I really enjoyed the story, but sense that this is part of a larger series. There are quite a few characters that I would like to know more about. Tom’s solution to Scarlet’s interest in his dishonesty isn’t thought out real well. I am still not sure if Ari and Sam are the witches known as Amber and Jasmine later. I am also confused about what Lianne actually is. All that aside, I will definitely be looking for more in this series.
