During the Battle of New Orleans, Julian's life was changed forever; he awoke with a thirst for blood. The war changed Jezebelle's life forever too. After her family was killed, she was left alone and fell to the mercy of brothel owner Audie Jenks. Now all she wants to do is escape that life. When Matt stops to help a desperate young woman, he just might be helping himself.

This book is a nice easy way to pass a few hours when you have nothing else to do. The plot runs smoothly and the author offers the reader a little bit of a history lesson along with the story. I would not necessarily call this book a romance, but more like the beginning of a possible romance. Matt is the tormented soldier and most of the story is told from his perspective, even though occasionally we do get a look at Jezebelle's thoughts. Jezebelle is well written as the heroine, though Matt is the one trying to save her, she basically saves herself and him, in more ways than one. I did have one complaint. It seemed that maybe the author ran out of time and hurried the ending through. It just all of a sudden tied itself, just as it was getting started. Still, this is not a bad story to while away an afternoon.
