Robin Cavanaugh is on her way home from the library when a very ordinary day changes. A wounded man jumps into her car and says no when she suggests taking him to a hospital. About to take him to the police, she changes her mind when she learns his name, Grayson, or known as Gray, his undercover name, Spike Joe Magee, and that he’s from her church. She takes him to her place and when his condition worsens, uses his cell phone to contact someone who turns out to be his brother, a doctor. Together, they treat him and Robin learns he’s an undercover agent intent on getting a drug ring off the streets. They fall in love, but will they be able to realize that love, and will he live through the final attempt to catch the bad guys?

This was a most enjoyable and spine tingling story. The characters were unique, very interesting, and also easy to love. The author did a good job of describing the settings, putting the reader right there with the characters. The emotions Robin experiences regarding his dangerous job, along with her staying away from church because of needing to care for Gray, are realistic. The danger, of which they are continually reminded, is ever-present and keeps the reader on the edge of the seat. The protagonist and hero are well-drawn and easy to identify with. The author describes the growing love between Robin and Gray both realistically and beautifully. Also, the conflicts that both experience, the inner ones and those from the dangerous drug people, are handled very well by the author and leads the reader to the exciting ending in a satisfying manner.

I will look forward to this author’s next book.
