A college history professor, Grace Michaels is about to rent her parent's old house to the new Chief of Police, Renaldo (Ren) Morello. Going across the street to meet Ren, Grace trips and introduces herself with her rear in the air. That is the first of many mishaps that Grace has in her beginning relationship with Ren. He is not interested in a relationship with Grace, having had a dreadful divorce, but he cannot understand why he is so attracted to her. After all, she is not his type at all-she is the type of woman who wants permanence, including a house and children. Ren is interested in none of that. However, as their relationship grows, both Ren and Grace slowly become aware that someone is out to kill her.

Grace Under Pressure is a wonderful, fun book. Ren and Grace are very well-written and I felt that they stepped right out of the book and spoke to me. Their relationship grows slowly, becoming graphic, erotic and HOT! The sex scenes are explicit and tremendously arousing. There are many secondary characters, whose lives are important to the entire plot. Ms. Schroeder's premise is great-she is writing about real people. There are scenes at the college, the police station-even Grace's ex-fiance (the jerk!) shows up! I thought the the plot flowed seamlessly, until the end of the story. I was enjoying this story very much-reading straight through-until close to the end. Unfortunately, at that point, the plot began to fall apart. I was considerably disappointed with those chapters, but Ms. Schroeder pulls things together near the end and ends on a high note.
