Casey Hatter is in Italy to follow her dream of studying art and to start a new life for herself after her husband's death. But it's no surprise when her old boss calls her to do an interview of a famous soccer star. She doesn't know anything about soccer and even though Casey tries to make excuse she finally gives in and agrees to the interview. When she meets Alessandro Sottini, she soon finds herself believing his endearments and falls in love with him. It doesn't take long for the media to get the story and now Casey is the most hated woman in Italy.

Alessandro Sottini has lived and breathed soccer for as long as he can remember. Now he's become a household name in Italy and the soccer world. The fame he's gained has also forced him to live like a recluse and endure women throwing themselves at him constantly. When he meets Casey, she doesn't even know who he is and hasn't even seen a soccer game before. And with her simple sweet ways, she quickly captures his heart. When the media frenzy begins he thinks everything will die down after playoffs. The couple tries to ignore the insults but he eventually loses Casey over it.

This is one of those classic love stories. Samantha Winston has done a great job at bringing these simple, sweet characters to life. I literally cried at the end of the book.
