| Chance Hesperos has gone the strange planet Elysium where tourists have been disappearing. As soon as he loses his companion, he goes back to report and request permission to find out what has happened and to be allowed to kill, if necessary. As a Spartan, he has been trained to show no emotion. All of that changes when he meets Dawn, a Seelie empath and sex engineer, who is assigned to be his guardian. As small as Dawn is, Chance does not believe that she could protect him. Dawn, however, shows Chance that he might just be underestimating her. Together they have logic and passion-will that be enough to help them succeed in their mission?
Amazing, sexy and scary! Those were my thoughts as I read Guardian. Ms. Austin has produced an incredible story full of wonder. Chance and Dawn are immediately attracted to each other and act on that attraction as soon as possible. I would have loved to have joined them! Once they return to Elysium, they find themselves in serious trouble. The planet is supposed to be welcoming to tourists, but it's real nature is almost unbelievable. Both characters are defined and equally important to the story. There were a number of interesting secondary characters who added depth to the story. Sexually graphic and erotic, Chance and Dawn have encounters that are full of both sex and warfare. I was thrilled by Ms. Austin's ability to combine the two different characteristics. The future world that she developed is complete unto itself and, for me, cries out for more stories.
