| Amy is finally done as a negotiator, and reveling in the freedom that she has after five years in a suit that was programmed to take care of her every need. She thought she’d be free for a while, but her government is calling in the last of her contract, the breeding part. She was sad to leave Pladen, and knew that he was looking for someone to have children with, but never her wildest dreams did she think she’d be one of the women he would judge as a potential baby factory. Besides, after serving him for five years in the anomalous world of the suit, she knows he won’t recognize her, this was just unfortunate chance. Maybe he won’t even give her a try?
I didn’t like the Pladen, he was arrogant, and not in a sexy way. It was hard to get to know him in a sympathetically, he acted like a jerk through most of the book and you never really got to know the real man. Amy was the same way, she’d been locked in a suit for five years so you’d think she’d have a few more issues than she did, and I couldn’t believe such a strong woman would put up with Pladen and his issues. The fact that she would agree to such outrageous terms in her contract about the baby and not be too bothered by it probably contributed to my lack of enthusiasm. The writing was choppy and jumped around a bit; I was never quite sure where I was in the story. I thought that something was going to happen with some of the more interesting characters (the seamstress being one) but nothing ever did, which was a shame, it would have been interesting to say the least. There was a lot going on in the story and I would have liked to have learned more about Amy and Pladen and what made them tick, I think it would have made me like them better.
