| Alice W. O'Brien, better know, as Hallie by her friends and family, was a well-known artist. While preparing to do an art exhibit Hallie starts to trance out, seeing visions of the old west, like watching a movie, only she was part of it. As the visions persist, Hallie knows she will have to find out who these people were. What do these people from the past have to do with her? Her paintings were pictures of what Hallie saw in her visions. She painted nonstop after she had a vision of a man, a man she called her Archangel. Hallie became obsessed with him. She had to find out what the visions meant, but she didn't know where to start. One of her paintings was of a train with the name "The Midland Terminal Railroad" on its side and she knew it was a mining town, but where?
Hallie's mom is a history teacher so Hallie asks her if she knew of such a town. Josey, Hallie's mom does indeed find the town and its called Cripple Creek Colorado. Hallie takes the next flight to Colorado hoping to find the answer to her visions. She planned to stay with Joshua Quinn, an old friend. Little did she know what was waiting for her in Cripple Creek. Gabriel Quinn is a successful photojournalist; he's been all over the world. While overseas taking photos he was wounded by a piece of shrapnel from an explosion. Now he takes photos, what he calls intimate glamour shots for women to send their boyfriends or husbands overseas. Gabriel gets a call from his brother Joshua asking him to put Hallie up at his place because Joshua didn't have enough room and he asks Gabe to pick Hallie up at the airport too. Joshua had an important appointment that he couldn't break. Gabe says sure and goes to pick up Hallie. Hallie arrives at the airport looking for Joshua, she takes one look at Gabriel and is shocked, it was as if her dream man had stepped right off the canvas. Her heart goes wild and she passes right out. When she comes to Hallie, looks at Gabriel and knows she has to solve the mystery. Who is this man and what has he to do with her? Gabriel looks at Hallie lying in his arms and doesn't know what to think. Women didn't normally swoon at his feet. What was he to do now? Looking down at Hallie, Gabe feels a strong attraction for her and wonders what the relationship was between his brother and Hallie. Hallie lead a quite, normal life until she started painting visions of a time long ago and a man that made her heart ache. Who is Gabriel and why was he haunting her? Gabriel had heard of Hallie O'Brien, a famous artist. He'd even seen some of her paintings and even though he thinks she's a little strange, he can't help but be drawn to her. What woman hasn't dreamed of her perfect man? Now image having him walk right up to you. Well that's just what happens to Hallie as she goes on a quest to find out who Gabriel Quinn and Mary Knickers are. Had she been this woman in another time? Why does she feel like she's known Gabriel forever? This is a wonderful love story. Gabriel's understanding and acceptance of her visions, and his love, helps Hallie to discover the secrets of the past. Denise Dietz is definitely a great writer and I enjoyed this book tremendously. She writes to your heart the kind of love story that will make you believe in visions too. Enjoy!
