| Ever since his best friend killed himself after his mate and unborn child died at her own hands, Ziggy vowed he'd never mate nor have children. But when he meets Summer for the first time in a club, his animal instincts kick in. When he finds out what Summer endured in her past, he vows to protect her. All the while denying that Summer is his mate. Believing what they have is just intense sex and nothing more.
Running from her brutal past, Summer an empathy with other psychic abilities, is surprised when she responds to Ziggy's overpowering desire. Being with Ziggy and his friends and family, she felt safe, secure and loved. But her past is catching up and her new found peace and sexuality is threatened. The deep-seated terror she felt before is back but this time she's stronger, allowing her abilities to help her and she absolutely refuses to give in. Susie writes a compelling story that reflects the leading characters. In this case, Ziggy is one of the three owners that run and operate a company called Were Watching (I love that), along with his brother and cousin. He's the serious one, intense and somewhat broody, dominant. While his brother and cousin's personalities are much lighter, mischievous, and wickedly naughty. Summer is a strong and capable heroine. She's lived a nightmare and has come through it with both exterior and internal scars; her past is heartbreaking and horrifying. You can't help but feel for her. Both characters have a lot of emotional baggage that moves the story towards an explosive climax and a very satisfying ending. Hanging By a Moment is the second 'Were Watching' book and easily stands alone. It's an excellent addition to what is shaping up as a superbly entertaining series. The stories couldn't be more different. Candid Camera Book I is much lighter in tone with elements of suspense. While Hanging By A Moment has elements of suspense and is darker and emotional. I'm eagerly waiting for the next book and I'm intrigued to find out who Susie writes about next the books are filled with interesting characters that are intriguing and that have the reader that being me in this case wanting to know more.
