| September 2008 was the time when Pattie Jo Baker decided she had to get serious. As a 29-year-old 4th grade teacher, she had tried on-line dating in addition to every other option. Living in Legend, Tennessee didn’t offer a lot of possibilities. She was desperate (or lonely) enough to contact Suzie Matthews, the Matchmaking Chef. Pattie had no idea how Suzie decided to match her with her elementary school principle, Jim Hamilton.
Jim had been alone for a long time and wasn’t sure he wanted to be involved with someone long term. He just was lonely. His contacts with Pattie didn’t turn out very well, especially at first. She was nervous because Jim was her boss and she had been casual friends with him for years. He was determined to weather these storms but he definitely wanted the woman. Ms. Maddie James has, once again, carried her readers through the area of Legend, Tennessee, and made us want to read non-stop. This quick-paced book is another in the series of this small town I have, personally, grown to love. James has a unique ability of telling the new story while revisiting old friends from previous books. It’s almost like a family reunion—we meet the new folks in the group while reacquainting ourselves with the others. Her characters are dynamic, vibrant people that become great friends as you read through the series. She has the capability of weaving her subordinate characters along with each of the others which tells an incredible story. She is a great author and this book is one of the best. I highly recommend it.
