| As a nerd, Allison has learned how to handle herself and survive in a man's world of computers. She feels comfortable reading comics, playing video games, and hanging with the boys; being one of the boys. Allison installs various computer systems and is great at her job. Patrick Conner has recently opened a coffee shop with his brother Nick. Their business is doing great but needs some computer help. Once Allison and Patrick meet the sparks start flying. Both are drawn to the other and soon discover you should never judge a book by its cover.
Sara Brookes has written an awesome story in Hardware. Allison is a strong woman who is successful in her job and secure in herself. Patrick is able to see things in Allison which no one has ventured to discover. He was the star baseball player in college and his strong character has been shaped by a violent childhood and a strong will to know his own desires. The plot flows at a wonderful pace so we get to know both characters. We experience the wonders of a relationship starting to bloom. Patrick is frank and honest about his sexual desires and finds Allison's curiosity is open to BDSM. Allison is not quick to jump once Patrick shows interest. She allows herself time to get to know him and listens to her own desires before getting tied up. As they become lovers we experience all the new discoveries they make in each other and themselves. I enjoyed how Patrick cherishes and respects Allison's mind and body. And their sexual chemistry is off the charts. There is a subplot of Nick Conner's failing marriage and his struggle with his own BDSM desires. I hope we see his story soon. Hardware is a great story to start the New Year off with sizzling hot sex and interesting characters.
