Since the breach, which caused many humans to change into something more monstrous, something dangerous, Jack Murphy has become a blood-sucking sub-human. He works only at night as a male escort, while in reality working for those who would stand against the government’s riding roughshod over everyone’s inalienable rights.

Laura, who knows nothing of Jack’s true activities or only suspects some of them, sits home many nights waiting for his return, when he will satisfy her needs. What she gets in addition to Jack’s expert loving is his ego trip, his borderline cruelty and his almost addicting fang bites.

Jack is a jerk. He treats Laura like she doesn’t matter. He does things he can’t admit to doing when he goes out at night. But when he comes home and he’s ready to lay with Laura, the fireworks ignite! The love scenes in this novella are so passionate and well-written, the reader will get caught up into it from the first word to the last. Jack was such an excellent lover, that I forgave him for everything he put Laura through, every time he touched her.

Laura had her chance throughout this story to tell her side of the state of her and Jack’s relationship. She made plain her willingness to lay everything down for him. Yet even as she sat waiting for his attention, the real focus of this story is Jack and his sexy transformation into the ultimate vampire lover, with plenty of hot descriptions of his hungry bits in various places on Laura’s body.

This story is very hot, very sexy and extremely well-written. It keeps the reader panting for more even as the couple face danger in a ravaged city. My only regret in To Have and To Have Not is that it was not longer, so I could enjoy Jack much much more.
