| Rayne is a high powered ad executive on her way to the top. She's got everything she ever wanted in life, except a man to share it with. When she goes out with her friends, they start to joke that the only man that would be good enough for them would have to be something special. Little do they know that's just what Rayne is destined for.
Hawk has been searching for the woman that is supposed to have his child. He's lived for centuries, and hasn't found her yet. When he sees Rayne, he knows his wait is over. Now all he ahs to do is convince this hard bitten career woman that she must have his child. But is Rayne as hard as she seems? Hawks Rayne has some very interesting characters and a story line that could really be something great. I found the dialog was hard to follow, and it didn't flow very smoothly which was very distracting to me. I kept loosing focus on the story, because it seemed to be jumping around a lot. I liked the premise of the story, the shaman was a great character but lacked depth. Rayne had some very interesting contrasts, and I liked how the author worked in her humanitarian side and softened her image a little bit. I felt that the story ended a little abruptly; as a matter of fact when I was done I re-read the last ten pages or so to make sure I didn't miss something. I think that Hawk's Rayne had some great ideas, and since it is supposed to be a series it will be interesting to see what Donica Covey does with the rest of the characters in the story.
