Widow Heather Gilpatrick has given up on men and on Doms in particular. After being terribly beaten by a Dom and put in the hospital, Heather knows she’ll never find that special relationship she had with her beloved husband. She just cannot trust men not to hurt her. But Detective Paul Baxter doesn’t want Heather to lose hope in men. He sees a beautiful submissive, a strong woman, and someone he wants to get to know. He lets her know that she can call him if she is attacked again, and when the worst happens and Heather’s stalker hurts her again, she calls Paul.

Paul will do whatever it takes to heal Heather, and to show her that love is waiting for her once again. All he has to do is protect her from a mad man and of course, win her trust, love and respect. He’s not sure which will be more difficult, but he knows if he can gain Heather’s love, he’ll be the happiest man on the earth.

Healing Heather is the newest story in the Incognito series. I can’t say I enjoyed it as much as the previous stories. Healing Heather seemed less intense, even for all the drama surrounding Heather’s stalker. The main problem I had was with Heather actually. She continually refused Paul’s protection when it was in her best interests to stay safe. While it is understandable that she did not want the stalker to control her life, it was not reasonable of her to constantly turn down all offers of protection. Paul for his part was a source of patience and good humor. His love for Heather was strong and made him an endearing character, but somehow their relationship lacked an edge, a true wow factor. However, Ms. Layle and Ms. Keaton definitely did a strong job in using love to heal Heather. Perhaps less impressionable than its predecessors, Healing Heather nevertheless proves to be a page-turner with the capable and charismatic Paul as its lead. Another agreeable effort from two capable writers.
