It is February 12, 2006 and Stacy is on her way to the wedding of her best friend. She is flying to Germany where the wedding will take place. While she is dozing on the flight something happens and she awakens to find that everything is changed. The date now is January and the year is1963. The first thing she notices is that the plane has propellers. She is confused and not knowing what has happened she asks to be taken to her friend. The people at the airport notice that she is dressed strangely and that when she talks she uses words that do not seem to make sense. They suspect she may be a Soviet spy and call the military police to take her into custody. She will have to prove first she is not a spy and second she is not insane. MP Sergeant Douglas Lee Bradley III, called Brad for short, is put in charge of guarding her. He wonders if she is not another Tokyo Rose or Mata Hari, especially after she requests to know where an ATM is located. He assumes she means anti-tank missiles not automatic teller machine. He will have to watch her closely and get her talking if they want to find out the truth. He finds that this is not very hard to do because she is incredibly beautiful and he finds himself drawn to her. Things develop rather quickly between the two and they find themselves in love and trying to figure out what has brought Stacy to be where she is.

The Heart of A Soldier is the title because Brad is the soldier that gives his heart to Stacy. The main theme of the story is the mystery that brought Stacy from the year 2006 to the year 1963. The answer is quite interesting how all the pieces fit together. It is amazing all the technological advancements that have occurred from the year 1963 to the year 2006. This helps to set the setting because Stacy is always saying something about things that do not exist. This is a time before JFK is assassinated and before man has landed on the moon. Brad finds all this interesting and he listens to all she says. His character seems to be open and caring. He will help Stacy get through this ordeal. Stacy is vulnerable because of her past. She has a fear of ending up committed to a mental hospital. She is also smart and will help Brad to make some important decisions. The dialogue runs smoothly through the story and is quite easy to follow. The emotional aspects of the story come through in the descriptive writing of Vanessa Hart. She makes it so that we feel what Stacy is going through when she feels lost and alone. The story is quite passionate and the sex is easy and open. The intimacy is described in stimulating details. This is an erotic romance that I feel all adult readers will enjoy.
