Heart of the Dragon is the sequel to Love’s Captive. It can be read independently but I suggest that Love’s Captive is read first, to get the full impact of Volarn. This is the story of Kasha and Eric.

Kasha, princess warrior, has devoted her life to the protecting of her brothers lands and it’s people. She has no time for the frivolities of life, she is a warrior first and a woman second. No one before has ever intrigued her as much as the Earthman nor annoyed her so much.

Eric is rescued from Earth after a mission with his military unit goes awry. The Volarnians did not intend to take him back to Volarn, but his injuries were too severe to leave him to earth’s medicine. When Eric lays eyes on Kasha for the very first time, he knows that there is can be no other woman for him. He proceeds to do what he can to convince her that even though he is an Earthman that he was the one fated for her. Eric knows that Kasha will only acknowledge him if he shows that he is a warrior not only on Earth but capable of helping Volarn with its enemies too.

Together they journey to help far away villagers and they find Puff. Puff is a loveable dragon or “Basami” as he is called on Volarn. Even though Puff has a tendency to drool and sneeze perfumed spray on everyone, can he bring Eric and Kasha together?

Ms. Nour’s Volarn is beautifully described. Kasha has strength and fragility and Eric is a warrior with a romantic streak. Both are beautifully portrayed. The dangers they encounter seem real and the antics of Puff are very funny. This is was a fun, fast and very enjoyable book.
