| Hearts Afire By Patrice Michelle Book 3 in the BAD IN BOOTS series, but may easily be read as a stand-alone story. Sabrina Gentry goes to visit her college friend Elise but doesn’t imagine she’ll meet the man who “trips her trigger” and fulfill the outrageous bet she and her cousins made. Josh is a seductive cowboy who is ready to take Sabrina on the ride of her life. When mysterious accidents start taking place Josh steps in to help his neighbors and protect the sexy petite woman who makes him crazy. Hearts Afire is a fast, satisfying read! Josh is Elise’s oh so sexy neighbor, and Sabrina is immediately attracted to him. She has no inhibitions about sex and intends to enjoy every minute with Josh until she finds out what he does for a living. No matter how much he trips her trigger she can’t give her heart to a firefighter. This one will make you gasp and make you cry but in the end say, in the words of a country tune, Hell Yeah!
Wild - Wild Hearts By Cheyenne McCray Nicole Landford is ready to fulfill her bet with the first man who “trips her trigger” but is not at all prepared for those feelings to pop up for an old irritating childhood friend. Kevin Grand has always pushed her buttons, but not in a good way. When her classic corvette breaks down Kev rides to the rescue. Kev has secretly always had a thing for Nicole, and when fate gives him the opportunity to rescue her he jumps on the chance. Nicole is stubbornly insisting she won’t give in to this surprising lust she feels for Kev. But Kev is determined to show her he is the only one who can satisfy her wild heart. The action in this story is hot & heavy and definitely orgasmic. Kev is an extremely dominant lover and that answers a surprising need in super independent Nicole. These two will make you laugh and root for their happy ever after. Cheyenne McCray’s Wild series is always entertaining.
Branded Hearts By Nelissa Donovan Lily Whitman is a museum curator and a Native American artifacts expert. She’s also the one the cousins think will lose the bet. Her college nickname was Lily White, but this time she is determined to overcome her inhibitions and win the bet. She decides to vacation at a Montana dude ranch. All dressed up by her cousins in a real “bad girl” outfit, she suffers some cold feet on her way to the Red Bear Ranch. So she stops for some liquid courage at the one saloon in town. Shain Stevenson is just back at the Red Bear Ranch to help get it on its feet as a paying bed and breakfast. He was a champion on the rodeo circuit and is not all that convinced this new scheme is the best for his sister and the ranch. When he sees their first paying customer drunk on a bull riding machine he is not impressed but she certainly trips his trigger! He decides she’s tr! ouble and proceeds to treat her that way. But things aren’t what they seem, either with Lily or with the strange digging and accidents happening on the land. These two really burn when they finally do get together. Ms Donovan does an excellent job making us feel the intense emotions underlying the passions of both Lily and Shain. The paranormal twist explaining Shains heritage leads to the conclusion of the story and makes me hope there are further stories planned for the characters of the Red Bear Ranch. Overall impression: Hearts are Wild reads more like a full length novel with the interconnected plot and characters that weave through all three stories. The shared plot was introduced in the prologue. The surprise in the epilogue tied it all together with a neat and totally sexy little twist! Each story was as different as the personalities of the heroines and yet all tied together by their warm friendships and family connections. I have read Patrice Michelle’s Bad in Boots and also several of Cheyenne McCray’s Wild series so “visiting” with some of the locations and old friends was fun, like icing on the cake. Or more like chocolate body paint! Because these stories are all extremely sensual and smokin’ hot! Honestly I am not the biggest fan of anthologies but this one was excellent because of the way it dovetailed together for a “big picture” feel! and the outstanding quality of these three stories! It will definitely go on my keeper shelf along with my favorites from each of these three extremely talented writers.
