All Skye wants is to be popular, survive her last year of high school and move out of her unhappy home -- easier said than done. Now that she is no longer interested her ex-boyfriend has decided he can't live without her. Morgan Raines has transferred in for his senior year and on his first day he rescues Skye when her ex goes all caveman on her. The two seemingly fall in love at first sight but Skye is afraid to share her feelings thinking they are too strong, too soon and will chase Morgan away. But he has a secret; he's a shape shifter and she is his mate. Can Skye handle Morgan turning furry every full moon?

This was an earnest story with a nice paranormal twist. Skye is a typical teenager, easy to understand and relate to. At times I couldn't help but shake my head at her naivety, even the hero refers to her being dense at one point. But I actually feel sorry for the girl, her best friend seems more like a daily lunch date and her mother isn't there for her either. This is a story full of heavy topics including alcoholism and abuse I wish there had been some lighter moments to balance the oppressiveness. Despite the issues I had I enjoyed this book and read it in one sitting. I'm a fan of the mate at one sniff genre so this plot worked for me. Some of the language and situations might be a little too mature for younger readers. I'd recommend this to fans of young adult paranormals and pick up a copy for any older young adult in your life.
