| Ansel Deusledorf is a stand-up comedian trying to make a career out of his act. So far, he's not been overly successful. His name, in addition to his pitiful looks, gives him a bountiful amount of comedy material. He is attracted to beautiful, tall blonde women who seldom look at him twice. Fortunately his roommate, Kirk Hanson, doesn't stay with women very long. He gives his rejects to Ansel. They usually go with him once or twice because he makes them laugh.
Greta, a slightly overweight homely woman, moves into his apartment building and the two of them become fast friends. At least that's what Ansel feels—friendship. Greta is much more attracted to him. She maintains a friendship with him and a dream of more to develop. This is Janice Zick's debut novel. It is uniquely written. It is presented in first person. It took a little mind adjusting to get into the story. However, I enjoyed it. The idea of the characters both being so different from each other made the novel distinctly different. The main characters were presented so believable that it was impossible not to fall for them. The comical slant to the secondary characters kept the interest high. It was easy to believe the people were real. I look forward to reading more from this author. I can recommend this book to almost anyone—especially if you enjoy quirky, fun-loving books. You won't be disappointed in this book or this author.
