Hearts Surrender

Inspirational romance

This book by Marianne Evans took us back to the Woodland Church of Christ. The Edwards family whom we met in the first book of this series have a two-month old baby boy. His baptism will be performed by their pastor, Reverend Kenneth Lucerne, a 35-year-old widower whose wife had died of cancer. Kiara Jordan, best friend and business partner of Mrs. Edwards, was the god-mother of Jeffrey Lance Edwards.

Rev. Ken and Kiara had been close friends even before his wife died. She had visited her a few days before she died. Now Ken was ready, after two years, to move ahead with his life. He felt Kiara would be part of that future. She however, wasn’t so sure. She had lived a lifestyle which didn’t necessarily fit into a pastor’s girlfriend. Then she agreed to help supervise a youth group mission trip.

Ms. Evans has once again delivered a book which I could not put down. I had looked forward to it since completing book one, Heart’s Crossing. I was definitely not disappointed. After setting such a high standard for herself in her first book, she just proved that she was fully capable of maintaining the level of expert writing we have seen prior to this. After reading this, I cannot wait for the rest of this series. If possible, it just got better than the first book.

This main couple was attracted but seemingly mismatched. The manner in which this author presented her primary characters was so believable and realistic. It was easy to relate to them both as followers of God. This book was humble and spiritual. However, it was not overly preachy. Everyone can relate to this storyline.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves romance. I can guarantee that you will love this book and search for the first book, which would not have to be read to enjoy this offering. I anxiously await the sequels to this book. I commend Ms. Evans for her ability to write such a book and keep our interest high.
