Magda, an independent nurse, was burned in a bad divorce. Once her ex-husband became a doctor, he dumped Magda. She enjoys men, but has sworn off doctors. HEART THROBS begins when Magda’s co-worker cardiologist Ben attempts to set her up with his new doctor partner, which Magda adamantly refuses.

Eric Damon Blair III (who goes by Damon) just moved into town. He knows his friend and new partner Ben wants him to meet a mysterious lady, but Damon has no interest in marriage minded women. His parents jumped from marriage to marriage. Damon plans on immediately perusing the singles scene and getting a few lady friends to help him shop for furniture.

It just so happens that Damon moves next door to Magda.

Magda and Damon run into each other and there is instant heat. The two agree to dinner at her place, and they quickly move from eating to making love. The commitment shy couple doesn’t reveal much in the way of what they do for a living, but concentrate more on the sensual. Damon hates the way women react to his announcement he is a doctor. Magda only wants a weekend lover. Both are baffled by the intense feelings they have for one another, but the reader is aware of Magda’s dislike for doctors, and you have to wonder what will happen when the couple comes out from under the covers.

In this erotic novella, why Damon and Magda are afraid of commitment is believable. However, I saw little if no interaction between the couple before they moved into the bedroom, so the sex seemed a little abrupt. The concentration was more on the bedroom moves then the developing relationship. Janet Lane Walters’ sex scenes are hot, and she has a vivid imagination on what two people can do with one another’s bodies, but I believe she could have delved a little deeper with her characters.
