Ryker is in the middle of a firefight with a strangely powerful woman who has torn most of his unit to shreds, when three soldiers show up and save him. The powerful woman is Kali, a General of Hell, and the three soldiers are demon hunters sworn to protect Ayden, the son of an angel and a demon. Ryker is totally out of his league, and at first seriously underestimates the lone woman of the trio, Gabriele. She and her comrades are stronger and faster than anything he has seen on Earth. Now, they protect him, since Kali and her rogue Archangel boyfriend Kannon will return to kill him and Ayden. Another more powerful Archangel, Tasmos, wants to kill Kannon for murdering his soul mate, but the head of the angels, Prolo, prevents him. Gabriele, who was horribly abused in her mortal life, finds herself truly in love for the first time, but Kali and celestial politics conspire to separate or kill them all.

This is an involving albeit disturbing story involving Heaven and Hell and the inhabitants of each place. It is hard to decide who is more corrupt, the leader of the angels or the demons. Ryker and Gabriele's love story is very good, both have been damaged by life and the reader will be happy they found each other. The other demon hunters were very vivid and sympathetic characters, especially Ryo. The reader will feel Tasmos' pain, but that plot line is not totally resolved. Isa and her husband the demon are less sympathetic. I felt for them in their desire to care for their son, but their total disregard for the demon hunters at times made them less likable. The love scenes were varied and inventive, but could be offensive to some readers at times. This series should prove to be an entertaining one.
