| Queen Melgara of Djarera is dealing with rebellion in the ranks when her daughter Lara's new husband Zender is not acceptable to her people as heir to the throne. In anger Dramon storms out. In what she thinks is anger the Queen follows him and finds she's in kfef, the dragon version of the mating call. Darrek is an angry man scarred by Zender in what he thought was a fight to rescue Lara from the rogue dragon who‘s now her mate.
Sierra Dafoe continues this excellent tale of dragons, their rituals and their loves in this installment of the series. These dragon men and women always seem to be full of surprises. It's like a soap opera as they share their lovers with one another! But we don't get erotic dragon aerial acrobatics during mating in soap operas like we do with this author's great writing. Zendar shows his gentler side in this tale. Guilt and pain cause him to leave her and the kingdom he loves behind. He and Darrek are caught up in the dragon winds that take them far from Dajerera together. The winds and their plight finally seem to help Darrek come to terms with his grief. Seems we never understand what we have until we've lost it even in the dragon world. He finally realizes that he has driven away the love of his life and may never get to go home again. Ms. Dafoe continues to keep this series exciting, well written and a lot of fun.
