Evan Garret is slightly psychic and a detective for the DCPD. He is working on a case that draws the attention of a government agency called the Special Investigative Services (SIS). John Benchley is the director of the SIS and also psychic. The two men start to work together on a series of ritualistic murders that are getting darker and more demonic. John seems to find comfort in Evan's presence and the two men soon start a relationship. But can they solve the murders and stop the killer before one of the team or someone else ends up a victim?

This story is full of mystery and suspense. The plot is well written and doesn't lead you into unknown or unresolved tangents. It moves at a good pace with only a few lags here and there. The characters are well thought out and the author brings some good insight into their thoughts and feelings. I liked the character of Evan because he seemed to be able to keep grounded in all situations and while having to hide his beliefs, he is not ashamed of who he is. I liked how the author made John so lifelike with emotions which made him all the more real and not superhero-ish and infallible. The supporting characters were very much a part of the story and added much to it with their different personalities. There are some m/m sexual situations which the author handles wonderfully, writing them with a touch of humor. I have to say though if I had one complaint it is that I felt that the end is rather abrupt and left unresolved, which could be on purpose for a sequel as there are a couple of novellas out with John and Evan already in them. This is a great book to read for those who like a little horror with their mysteries.
