Mackenzy Cord walked into the Angel Creek, South Carolina bank to deposit his last pay from his job as a bounty hunter. He had a goal in mind. He planned to marry his best friend, the banker’s daughter, Savannah Carrington. With this most recent deposit he was getting closer to having enough to approach her father and then let her know that he wanted to be more than friends. As soon as he stepped into the bank that day, he found out that Savannah had run off to West Virginia to keep from marrying the man her father picked out for her.

Savannah was a naive young woman who trusted too willingly. On the train trip she befriended a brother-sister duo, Ned Barlow and Raquel, who insisted on going with her to the bank to deposit her money. Not only did Ned steal her money, but he robbed the bank also. Savannah lost jewelry that was sentimental since the death of her mother. She did, however, escape from Ned’s planned kidnapping.

This writing team known as Sheridon Smythe does an incredible job with their books. I love historical romances, so I always seem to be drawn to ones with their name on the cover. This one was no exception. It seems that each offering gets better than the previous one. The main characters were both dynamically portrayed. There was no way to not love them. And the main “side-kick,” a small boy (Roy Hunter) was so adorable I just wanted to see him prosper.

The other supporting cast was well thought out and made the story the winner that it was.

The sensual scenes were well presented and they sizzled. The ending was not at all what I was expecting. However, the finale was so great it made the book even better. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves historical romance with super-hot sexual scenes.
