Alexander O'Malley is a policeman and when he sees his best friend's sister being mugged in the alley he is very frightened. Alex has known Allie most of her life, and has always thought of her as sort of a little sister. Allie knows that Alex doesn't see her as a woman, but she has loved Alex and wanted him forever it feels like. After Alex takes Allie back to the station and takes her statement he feels like he needs to take care of her. So Alex sees Allie home and ends up falling asleep there and wakes in the night and makes love to Allie before he is totally awake. When he awakes he is horrified to realize that he took advantage of little Allie, and doesn't handle things well.

Allie is hurt when Alex is so upset over their having made love. And when she has a major problem at her job she decides to make major changes in her life. She gets a makeover, goes back to school to get her RN, and starts a workout program to get some curves on her slim body. Then she takes a vacation to Ireland, takes a lover, and comes to realize that she is a desirable woman.

Alex has been avoiding Allie ever since that night but Mike asks him to pick her up at the airport. Alex is amazed at the changes in Allie, and is jealous when he realizes that Allie had taken a lover while in Ireland. Alex decides that he needs to make things right with Allie, but doesn't think there can be any long-term relationship. That is because Alex likes his sex a little rough and likes more then the traditionally vanilla variety. Allie decides she is going to take what she can get with Alex and decides if she is only going to have him for a little while she is going to have some of her fantasies fulfilled. Will these two realize that both of their desires are doable or will they have to part because of sexual differences?

This is a marvelous book especially for all of those women out there who think it's too late to change your life. Watching Allie take charge of her life and make the changes necessary for her to be happy is marvelous to watch. Then when she takes charge and opens herself up to Alex and lets him know that she is a strong woman who wants to be dominated in the bedroom, but she is her own woman everywhere else is just amazing to watch. This is a very erotic and sensual love story that opens up all the possibilities of a loving and trusting relationship. So if you love a good love story with lots of hot and steamy sex, and not just the straight vanilla kind then make sure you check this one out.
