Marco Alvarez is a famous artist whose works were to be displayed at the gallery where Alyssa worked. Despite a wariness of women who were only after his money, Marco felt an instant attraction to Alyssa, but fought against it. But they soon found themselves at the mercy of a matchmaker who was willing to go to any lengths to see these two in love.

Filled with sadness at her half-sister’s selfish refusal to not want anything to do with her, in addition to her mother’s death, Alyssa was only too glad to get back to work, to keep her mind busy. She's shy and without wiles or deceit. Her boss was only too glad to make sure that Alyssa and Marco become involved with one another. Marco, while handsome and sexy to boot, found himself attracted by Alyssa’s personality and the person she was. Marco was amazed at the protective feelings he developed for Alyssa after only knowing her for a short time. But sometimes, as we know, life shakes things up and soon Alyssa and Marco found themselves apart from one another, hurt feelings and miss-understandings clouding up everything. And if that weren’t enough, poor Alyssa had to put up with a nasty mother-in-law. Talk about trouble in paradise.

Hidden Desire is a very beautiful love story, Ms. Hofman has written a great, moving story of Alyssa and Marco’s life, and how these two characters fell in love despite a difficult road before them.
