Gina is trying to overcome writer’s block by hiding herself away in a friend’s remote cabin. One stormy night she is alarmed a pounding on her door. She opens it to find her friend Ryan “Irish” Ahearn on the step. Ryan is agitated and doesn’t remember Gina, pointing his gun at her. Since they have been best friends for over ten years Gina is just a bit upset about this wondering if Ryan is seriously injured. An SIA Agent on assignment, Ryan has very little memory of what has just occurred, he just knows that he has never seen anything like the creature that chased him to the cabin. He also knows that he must protect Gina, even if he can’t remember her, he’d like to get to know her much better.

This is a very good addition to Ms. Agnew’s SIA series. Gina and Ryan are very vivid and sympathetic characters; very good friends who would like to be something more, if Ryan’s work was not so travel intensive and dangerous. The suspense aspect of the story is riveting. The Zurvan is terrifying and the author’s description of the Shadow Realm and it’s inhabitants is so vivid I could picture it with no problem. The love scenes are excellent and the romantic tension between the two characters is great. I just love this series.
