| While vacationing in the Scotland, American tourist Mackenzie is
kidnapped and taken back in time to the 18th century Scottish Highlands. There, her fate is forever entwined with the dangerous and
seductive Laird Connor MacRae. Caught in the midst of clan warfare, Mackenzie must play along with Connor's plot for revenge in order to survive. Ancient curses and déja vu are strong themes.
Overall a pretty good read. It had a fun set up and good chemistry between the hero and heroine. The sexual tension between Mackenzie and Connor is established early on and escalates throughout the book. The plot is relatively strong, but unfortunately the author's voice tends to waver a bit. Many passages tend to drag. While other often crucial scenes are skimmed over. The book opens to a rocky start but picks up by the third chapter. The author does a good job creating the character, Connor MacRae, 18th century Scottish laird and warrior. A leader committed to his clan but fatefully distracted by the beguiling Mackenzie. The character MacKenzie, however, leaves a lot to be desired. Some of her logic and reactions are a bit flawed. She's a little too willing to go along with her kidnappers, and not particularly shocked to find herself teleported two hundred years into the past. This makes the character seem underdeveloped at best and ditsy at worst. Despite this, she has some redeemable moments throughout the book. Overall the novel is an enjoyable read. It is a sweet tale, standard fare for time travel romance fans, with cute, often humorous moments, and a believable chemistry growing between the hero and heroine. It is a good read for fans of the genre... especially, those who aren't expecting a highly sensual read.
