Kerry Cameron is a reluctant reporter for a nasty tabloid newspaper, but she needs the money desperately. She’s sent on assignment to find a reclusive author in Scotland and uncover all his secrets. She expects to find an old gray haired eccentric type. Instead she finds Ronan Fraser, a wildly sexy, handsome modern Highlander who sweeps her off her feet! Immediately a strong attraction sparks between the two and despite the difficulties their love will burn strong and hot.

Highland Heat is a delightful story! The story unfolds with such lovely detail that you feel as though you know the characters and are a part of their lives. Ms Neal describes the highlands so beautifully it seems the castles and countryside is another character. Kerry is a dedicated woman who manages to stay strong despite losing her job on the day her beloved grandfather has a seriously debilitating stroke. She does what she has to in order to make ends meet and pay for his high medical bills. She muddles through a distasteful job for a tabloid newspaper. But when she is given no choice but to accept a sleazy assignment in Scotland or lose her job, it will be the loss of her integrity and the betrayal of Ronan’s trust that will cause her the most heartache. Ronan is a sexy hero, v! ery intelligent and of course tall and handsome. Yes he wears a kilt! Yet he’s also vulnerable and has had a bad experience with a former girlfriend who broke his heart with her lies. This makes it all the harder for Kerry to write an expose on the “real” Robbie MacIain. She hates the deceit she’s forced to employ to get her story. When she realizes she’s falling in love with Ronan Fraser, her conscience really begins to make her ill. She’s in the unbearable position of choosing between being able to care for her ill grandfather or betraying the man she loves. The sexual attraction between them is described with gentle terms but it’s well done and fits with the tone of the story. The plot unfolds with a few twists that keep your attention to the end. Altogether this is a fine Highland romance that I thoroughly enjoyed.
