Sorcha Stewart lives in a time when a woman is supposed to come into marriage pure and untouched. However, on her wedding night to Alan McDonald, a Scottish Laird, she is not the innocent he believes her to be. She had a lover before, Cam the Earl of Camdonn, who is also Alan's best friend. When she is kidnapped on her wedding night by Cam, the one man who knows all her secrets, the one man that can inevitably destroy them all, her world is thrown into chaos. Can the obsession of this one man to have her destroy them all?

I enjoyed this story from the first chapter. The three main characters Sorcha, her new husband Alan, and his best friend Cam were all so well written. Sorcha was the perfect combination of innocence and strength. She was truly the perfect heroine. Alan and Cam were not always on the same side. In fact, they were very seldom on the same side and at times I wanted to hate Cam. These two were both such strong, lovable characters. Ms. Halliday so thoroughly carries the reader back to this time of war and the struggles the people of that time went through, I found myself unable to put it down. There is one threesome scene that some might find objectionable -- this reader would not be one of them -- yet I found the scene to be an important part of the story and found it all tastefully written. This is an action-packed, sometimes sweet story of love, deception, and pushing the boundaries of friendship to the point of destruction and I loved it. I recommend this one to anyone who loves a great historical a little on the spicier side. I cannot wait to read more by Ms. Halliday.
