Connie Mason has once again exceeded even her high standards that fans have come to expect from her work! As an avid reader of her books, I expected to enjoy this one; however, I was shocked at how great this one turned out.

The McKays and the McKennas had been bitter enemies for many generations. During one such confrontation, Ross McKenna realized that the soldier he was engaging in combat was much too shapely to be a man. He held his own, but refused to kill a woman. Gillian McKay thought she was winning the battle until her father came and forced her away from McKenna. Her burning desire to kill her bitter enemy was thwarted that day and Gillian felt she would never rest until she rid the earth of Ross McKenna. Imagine her disgust and surprise when her father faced McKenna and offered his daughter’s hand in marriage to stop the bloodshed! She fought it as much as possible, but woman had little say in their lives. The man she had thought to marry had waited too long to offer for her; the marriage would take place even though Gillian was determined to hate McKenna until her last breath.

This rocky relationship had more setbacks than usualRoss returned her to her father’s home twice (for crazy reasons), her once intended bridegroom, Angus Sinclair, and Ross’ leman, Seana McHamish, caused trouble throughout the story. As I encountered each obstacle with the couple, I was sure that, finally, they would find peace. Not so, however! These characters are some of Ms. Mason’s best! Their personalities and the makeup of the supporting individuals resulted in an incredible and intense story that is unforgettable! There are numerous characters whose in-depth study created this powerfully passionate work and determined that this story would be a remarkable addition to her works of art!

I am honored to have been given the opportunity to review this work. I heartily recommend Highland Warrior as a must read!
